Parmjit Dhanda MP fails to practice what he preaches

Thu ,15/10/2009

Following this mornings post on how Parlez~me~’n~Tory found it ironic that Parmjit Dhanda was presenting a briefing entitled RESTORING TRUST IN POLITICS I have an update to the theme of the lack of transparency provided by Parmjit.

This morning’s post ended with the following update

Further evidence of a lack of PARMJIT’s transparency: I just received the following on Twitter after announcing this blog post!

@EllieMo1: Trust? Parmjit Dhanda? The man who, rather than face questions from a constituent, blocked her on Twitter?

Says it all really!

Well, after discussion with @DeclanLyons he reminded me that during Parmjit’s failed bid to become speaker of the House he preached to his potential congregation on how Parliament should engage with the public via the Internet, Facebook and Twitter…see for yourself (2mins 45 secs)

With that in mind @EllieMo1 wrote a simple Tweet (see below) to Parmjit asking what he had done with regards to the closing of the Cheltenham and Gloucester.

@parmjitdhanda asked for more information on mortgage and on repairs bill. Nothing yet from other Glos MPs

For her troubles he blocked her account and wrote her an abusive letter.

Somebody needs to remind Parmjit that with regards to him and other MP’s They Work For You. The forthcoming General Election would be a very good time to exercise that right.

Parmjit Dhanda, would you care to explain yourself?

No Gordon, that’s COUP not COW; damned Scottish accent!

It’s only taken 12 years to get the truth out of the PLP but today we have it. Today we have an admission that sums up how the rest of the country is feeling

Seven or so months before a General Election. And it is not the best of times for the Labour Party. There is a general malaise. The opinion polls predict a significant Conservative victory…

From where do these wise words come?

This is the future of the Labour Party imaginatively named LabourFuture

Last evening there was wild talk of a coup in the making with those in charge signing up various henchmen at 11am today, the timing still stands.

ToryBear examines whether this coup will be successful.

Although I am more concerned with the briefing by PARMJIT DHANDA entitled RESTORING TRUST IN POLITICS

This is the same PARMJIT DHANDA who repeatedly claimed the wrong mortgage payments.

You may also wish to read the e-mail and response between the Sunday Telegraph/DHANDA. I find PARMJIT’s response quite ridiculous in some areas.

With regards to Sir Thomas Legg’s recent expenses enquiry PARMJIT has been asked to ‘supply further evidence’, judging by his own acceptance of incompetence in the Sunday Telegraph response with regards to retaining receipts I don’t hold out much hope for an early night any time soon for Sir Thomas!

How’s that for restoring trust in Politics?

They work for YOU says

Voted moderately against a transparent Parliament. votes, speeches
Voted very strongly for introducing ID cards. votes, speeches
Voted very strongly for Labour’s anti-terrorism laws. votes, speeches
Voted a mixture of for and against the Iraq war. votes, speeches
Voted very strongly against an investigation into the Iraq war. votes, speeches

PARMJIT says

My expenses are based on some clear principles. I have never “flipped” main and second homes, my main home has always been, and will always be in Gloucester, with my constituents – a principle I maintained even when I was a minister.

Parlez~me~’n~Tory says let the people decide!
